My Review of Randall Reed's Planet Ford:Bait and switch. Dishonest sales staff, a great reason to buy elsewhere! Crooks! Simple dishonest sales techniques. I tried to make things right with the "Manager" and I could not do it. The web ad said this vehicle for tis amount, when I showed up to buy it, whoops, that was a manual Fiesta not automatic, we cannot sell you that car for that amount. I was told that there is a disclaimer but this sales team uses that often to up sell poor fools that call there. I am contacting the Attorney General as well as the BBB. The sales team at Randal Reed Ford in Humble are crooks. Verifiable crooks.
From:
Their sales staff yesterday used bait and switch to act in bad faith. I had an agreed price of $13,383.00 when we showed up, it was now $16,000+. The car online was intentionally misrepresented. It had a description of a automatic transmission as did the sticker posted online. I have contacted the BBB and now I am contacting the Texas Attorney General. No surprise that a car dealer is continuing the tradition of the least trusted profession in the US. This is what the web ad stated

I was told that this car had a manual, then I was told by the manager that it was not even on the property! I then offered to wait until it got there but then the manager said that I can that car but not at the advertised price. This is fraud and they are dishonest, you have been warned!
They may be the worse dealer I have ever dealt with.. After they bounced my check they wasn't suppose to cash.. They wouldn't pay the fees owed to me.. The sales manager Billy is a sorry excuse for a man.. Paul lied to me about tearing up the check.. Buy a car anywhere but here honesty is gold and they have none.. They where very stubborn about the pricing and forced me to buy a car elsewhere.. Saved my self about 5k but lost a $34 bank fee cause of them.. They won't make good.. Hope the bad reviews was worth that money

do not buy here. incompetent customer service. horrible buying system. very slow follow ups. the general manager and sales representatives are not accountable. potential buyers make more money than any of those workers. i will buy elsewhere. they are not the only car dealer.

My Review of Randall Reed's Planet Ford:I had a very unpleasant experience today 6/1/10. I waited six hours after I found the truck I wanted we finally negotiated the price as we worked on the paper work my credit was ran all that was left was for me to do is to sign the finance paper work for us to purchase the truck another customer came in and the sales people there were trying to sell him the same vechile that we already had agreed upon that customer was not there even for an hour finally after waiting soooooooo long Mr Eric Barbosa brought me and my wife to a desk asking us if we were going to finance the truck and the amount we had negotiated had not been cleared by him but the sales person Victor had discuss the price with him. Mr Eric Barbosa stated another customer was wanting to give them $1,000 more for the truck and that they would not sell us the truck he gave us the money we had already put as a down payment which was $6000 back to us I immediately told him that all they did was waste my time, he was very rude, had no customer satisfaction and I am going to take my business some where else as I was walking out the building I returned inside to get a business card because I was going to report that place of business and Mr. Eric Barbosa walked right out side to the front of the pre owned building to tell me whats the problem in a very rude manner infront of my wife and daughter and several customers I told him all they do is bad business here and they dont care about customers satisfaction and there job is to satisfy the customers he stated " Its just business" and that they were not going to loose money on that truck since someone else was giving him more I dont know who Mr Barbosa thinks he is but he has no respect for there customers and made me feel like my sale was not important to PLANET FORD I will make sure I tell everyone I know about this horrible experience I had at this car dealership when all I was doing was trying to buy a truck from them it is money that PLANET FORD makes and which they turned away just to make a couple of dollars more. I am really disappointed in the type of employee they have working there Mr Eric Barbosa. On the other hand Mr Victor Martinez and Mr Lalo Guerra (which helped me with my purchase) very helpful and patient. there employee Mr Barbosa has made me feel very unsatisfied, disappointed and most of all a very unhappy customer.

11:00am: Excited, Anxious. On my lunch break I plan on heading over to Sterling McCall Acura to order a white 2002 MDX. 3-month delivery. $39,750 selling price. $10,000 down payment, trade in of 1998 Mazda Millennia, 45,000 miles, Good condition.
11:15am: Even more excited. My wife has just called me and told me of an Internet Special on a 2001 Eddie Bauer Expedition, White. Selling price listed as $28,485. Miles listed 0. Obviously, I didn't think the miles were zero, but surely less than one hundred. What a deal! Wife also notifies me that she has left a message for Mr. D S to call her back with more details. No longer plan on going to Acura dealership.
11:20am: Place my own call to D, get voice mail, leave message.
Noon – 4:30pm: At least five more calls to try and reach D, get voice mail only. No pages answered I'm told by the operator two times. Out of those five calls, I leave one more message.
4:50pm: Leave to go pick up 3-year-old son from school. No return call from D.
6:30pm: Return home with son. Had gone to eat and watch local high school football game. Check messages. D called at
5:15pm. I call D back and inform him that I'm interested in the truck, but I'll have to track down my wife before I can make the trip up there. I ask how long he'll be there, “As long as I need to be.”, is his response. “What time do you close?”, I ask. “10:00pm, but I'd rather not stay here that late.”, he replies. “I'd like to get there sooner than that. If for some reason I can't make it tonight, I'll call you.”, I tell him. “I'd appreciate that.”, D says. We hang up and I begin attempt at contact with my wife. She's getting her nails done. Multiple cell phone and pager calls go unanswered. I'm frustrated.
8:00pm: Wife calls and I fill her in on the situation. “I'm two minutes from home.”, she tells me. Woohoo! I get myself and son ready for wife's arrival…and immediate departure.
8:15pm: We're on our way to Planet Ford.
8:20pm: Wife calls and speaks to D. “Is anything wrong with the truck?”, “No”, “How many miles on the truck?”, ”Not many.”, “So it's just an Internet Special?”,”Yes”, “How long has it been up on the site?”, “I put in on there yesterday.”, “We're en route, see you in a bit.”
8:45pm: Raining cats and dogs, going 35 mph on SH Toll way. Stop at gas station to let the heavy stuff pass, wait 15 minutes until it does and continue on our way. Geez, I didn't realize when starting out that Planet Ford was 60 miles away…Thinking, should've waited until Sunday.
9:25pm: Arrive and Planet Ford, exhausted after harrowing trip through torrential downpour. Ask for D S. Asked to wait, directed to chairs.
9:55pm: Rumors that D has gone home make their way to my ears…still waiting, 3 year old getting cranky. My patience is wearing thin. We meet K L, very nice man, he tells us that he cannot reach D by phone or page. I'm pissed, but control myself. I hand K the Internet Special printout and he proceeds to look for stock #13737.
10:30pm: K has walked by periodically reassuring me that he's trying to find the truck mentioned in the ad. This time he's given up. He can't find the vehicle. No vehicle, no D. Yes, I'm still pissed. I'm pissed because the salesman whom we told we'd be there, was not. I'm pissed because my family has now wasted two hours driving and waiting for a vehicle that has disappeared. I ask to speak to a manager…”this is ridiculous”, I recall saying.
10:45 – 11:45pm: K brings over B L, B apologizes for not being able to find the Internet Special vehicle, doesn't know what happened to the vehicle or D. I like B and K. B offers to make a great deal on a 2002 Eddie Bauer Expedition of our liking. Turns out its an offer at invoice price. Sounds pretty good. My family and I, K and B hit the parking lot and find the vehicle we want. Invoice is $34,024…payments around $599/month after $5,000 down. Sounds pretty good. But still a little high when I was expecting to pay $28,485 +TTL, etc and have payments around $510/month. I'm willing to talk, maybe an agreement can be reached. However, it won't happen tonight. The folks doing the appraisal of my trade in have gone home. B offers to let us take the brand new vehicle home for the night, providing I'd come back in the morning and attempt to work out a deal. We agree. Everyone's tired. We leave the dealership and head home.
12:45am – We arrive home, exhausted. It's been 4 ½ hours, since this whole mess began. We get our child ready for bed, put him down and get to work on the financial aspect of this “deal”.
2:00am – My wife and I finally get to bed after an hour of working and reworking, down payments, sales prices and trade in scenarios. We've developed a strategy and have 3 plans for the 2002 Expedition and 2 plans for the 2001 “Phantom” Expedition, in case the 2002 deal doesn't work out.
10/6/01
7:15am – I wake up take a shower and get dressed. One final once over of the financials we had worked up last night. I make sure I have all that's needed and I head out the door at 8:20am.
8:34am – I arrive at Planet Ford. On the way I've decided that I'd stand firm on one of the plans formulated the previous night for the 2002 vehicle. If it didn't work out, I'd just switch to the plans for the 2001 “Phantom” Expedition.
8:45am – I shake hands with K and he asks that I “sign in” with the receptionist. I do so, giving the same information I gave out at the same place merely 10 hours ago. No problem though. K and I sit down, I tell him the plan I decided on regarding the 2002 Eddie Bauer Expedition: $34, 024 for the truck @ the 4.9% offered last night, a no-deficit trade in on my car ($14285), TTL of $2300 and I'd put $6,500 down, instead of the $5,000 I talked of last night. This would give me payments of $547/month. I ask about the 2001 vehicle I was originally interested in. K tells me that they still haven't found it. K heads off.
9:00am: K returns showing me payments of $617/month, while explaining they'd pay off my trade. I again say that I want a no-deficit trade, meaning that the dealership would pay the payoff on the trade in, or I wouldn't deal on the 2002 and I'd just set my sights on the 2001.
9:15am: K again returns showing me that he can only give me $11,000 for my trade in. I tell him no problem, I'd like to take a look at the 2001 vehicle. K mumbles something about having to find D and takes off. I still like K, he's working hard.
9:30am: B shows up at the table stating that he can give me $11,500 now for my trade. I tell him I'm not interested in the 2002 anymore and I'd like to see the 2001. “I think that vehicle has some miles on It.”, he says as he walks off. I like B too, he's also working hard.
9:45am: K and D show up. D now explains that the 2001 vehicle listed in the ad is in the shop…it won't start. He'd feel bad if I had to drive all the way out here for warrantywork if problems kept continuing with that car. The “bait” has been yanked away! I state that I'm really not interested in the 2001 anymore, since it has problems and all. I restate my desire to have my original deal on the 2002 vehicle (the “switch”) approved. I'm really pissed, yet hide it well and vow to stick to my guns on my original offer. They head off.
10:15am: They return with a new deal. $11,500 for my trade in and $500 dollars off theinvoice price to $33,524. I do not agree to the deal, still pissed that I'm the victim of a “bait and switch” scam. I tell the two to go give it another shot and do not bring back another offer, but instead a “Yes” or a “No” to my proposed deal.
10:30am: D comes back with “No”. I tell him thank you and proceed to gather my effects from the 2002 vehicle, place them in my car and head out. On the way out I call K and thank him for his help and to call me if the dealership changes its mind. He agrees. K and B call me back minutes later suggesting I go to Carmax and get a second opinion on the value on my car. I tell B that I know what the value of the car is, I know I'm off by $2300, but the deal should've been made as a concession for the trouble I've gone through. He apologizes and vows to keep trying. We're $2334.00 apart from an agreement.
11:00am: I speak to my wife and give her the details. She's disappointed but understands. I ask her to run the figures if the dealership gave me $1000 more on the trade in and kept the sales price at $33,524. Payments of $571/month. My wife and I agree to go back with this offer.
11:15am: I enter Fry Electronics. I call K and tell him that I feel like I should've budged from my stance a little bit. I tell him, “I'll concede $1300.00 if you can get me $12,500 for my trade in”. Explaining that I'm meeting the dealership more than halfway and it should be a no brainer. That I'm in Fry Electronics and will be awaiting his call.
11:45am: I call K and ask what the deal is. He says my paperwork is in a line of other waiting to be reviewed. I state that I'll wait again for his call.
12:15pm: I again call K. “Any news?”, I ask. He's trying to get a hold of “Bobby” to see what the status is.
12:35pm: After multiple laps around Fry's, I grow weary and head to Planet Ford. Thinking maybe I need to be there for them to hurry up.
12:53pm: I call K and tell him that I'm entering the dealership. He's with a customer in a demo and will get back inside as soon as he can. No problem, I hit the restroom and sit down in the waiting area.
1:10pm: I get bored and start roaming around. D spots me and comes over and asks if he can help me. I tell him that I told K if I can get $12500 for my trade in, I'd do the deal. D says, “Can't do it. We're actually losing money on the deal to you right now.” “Ok”, I say then walk out the door and head home. Feeling like I got over on the “bait and switch” scheme, but still pissed as hell that it occurred. And even more upset that a measly $1000 stood in the way of a deal being made.
2:15pm – I finally get home. Almost 9 hours total, and over 250 miles, wasted on PlanetFord's 2001 Eddie Bauer Ford Expedition “Internet Special”.

Don't waste your time with Randall Reed Dealerships. I was warned by many but didn't pay attention but everything I was told was RIGHT. I went there to compare deals between three other dealerships I was working with--Gullo Ford, Russell and Smith Ford and Mac Haik. All had the same F250 I wanted to trade my existing F250 for. I informed the salesperson of this and still was presented with an enbarrassing low-ball offer. After spending three hours at the dealership, they still wasn't at what the other dealers were willing to offer. Why? Well Randall Reed dealerships are notorious for adding crap you don't need to new vehicles, forcing you to buy it. The truck I looked at had nitrogen filled tires, some kind of treatment on the glass, and some other things I don't need totally $2000. In the end, that very $2000 was the deal breaker because that's how much they were off coparing to other dealers. I told them, but they didn't care. Don't believe the hipe that "nobody beats a Randall Reed deal" BECAUSE THEY DO. Next day I took delivery of my new truck from Mac Haik. A follow up call was made the following day from Randall Reed trying to lure me in once again. When I told the man who called what happened, he still tried to convince me that I needed the crap they added. Needless to say I dropped the "I already bought somewhere else" and then I wasn't important. I purchased new vehicles in the area from Weisner, Russell and Smith and now Mac Haik and all three are reputable where you can get good deals. Randall Reed Ford is a joke!!! Worst dealership I have ever been too or dealt with and I buy every two years so I've done this a lot. Just don't waste your time. They are more interested in selling you the crap they add to their new vehicles rather than the product itself. STAY AWAY FROM RANDALL REED DEALERSHIPS UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE A SUCKER!!!

I went to Randell Reed Ford and gave a salesman Robert Sparks 2,100 dollars and observed him give it to a used car financial manager Steve Vasqeuz in which Vasqeuz instructed me to bring 400 more dollars for what I have no idea . Steve gave me my vehicle which was a jeep patriot and told me my deal was done . Later about 3 weeks later i was ask by Steve to bring my vehicle in to have an gps installed , which I complied with and when i returned to pick up my vehicle was sold . Then he told me that my file was under investigation and he didnt have it anymore, so he sent me to the new car building to look for my file . When i got to the new car building and they've never heard of me or my file ,and all of a sudden here comes Vasquez with my file with a receipt saying that i only gave 100 dollars down . Now with credit like mine ,I dont believe there's a car dealership in the world would let drive away in a vehicle for 100 dollars down . A financial director Chris Griffin stepped in and said he would take care of me and informed me that they would give me a bailout until they purchased me another jeep patriot . I drove the bailout for 3 weeks , which i did not ask for and now there saying because of me driving the bailout i cant get my 2100 dollars back because the dealership told the bank which had already approved me that I only put 1000 dollars down which was not ok with the bank associate whom I spoke with so the dealership became upset and now are trying to deny me my 2100 hundred dollars back .So i have been instructed to contact a detective Miller with the Humble police department and file charges on Robert Sparks whom just so happens to be a african american , but nothin being said about Steve Vasquez whom I gave cash money to which was dumb on my behalf I should have gotten a cashier's check but i would hate to have to bring the news media in to this ,but it looks like that's what's going to conspire because it's Christmas time and I have kids . All i want to receive my 2100 hundred dollars back . That was my last money at that time to try and get transportation for my kids and myself . I go to school and work and this is a terrible time of year to loose that type of money. All i want is my money back.

Within the past 7 years I have purchased 4 new vehicles all of which I tried Randall Reed (Humble) first(because it is close to home). I tell them what I want how much I will give and how much I want my monthly payments to be. They have never complied even after 4 trips from the sales person to the so called manager that gives the deal. The last two times I've told them I will leave here and get what I want at another dealership. They usually call me the next day or two and tell me they can comply but by that time I've already gotten what I have asked for from another dealership. What can I say I leave there go to another ford dealership tell them what I want how much I want to pay and how much I want my monthly payments to be and drive away with a new vehicle. And yes Juventino is right if you give them your info they will immediately pull your credit. They like to bend customers over and they won't even seal the deal with a kiss

They suck very very much. They will pull your credit without your permission, which is illegal.

I came in to see how much I could get for my truck with their National Buyback Event. They immediately tried to sell me another car and took little interest in my truck. I did see an expediton I liked and asked them what the price was. They told me the expedition was 24,995. I told them that that was too expensive for me, the sales person told me to wait and he would do his "best". The came back with the figures 22,000 for the expedition 3500 for my truck and 3000 cash down. I told him no then went back to the little enclosed glass area to do his "best". (I was already another deal with a dealership with same expediton/trim just different color for 19000, 5500 trade in and 2000 cash down). When i told the salesman if he could beat that deal i would buy today. He went back and forth or about an hour and a half telling me each time that that was the lowest but I declined because of my better deal elsewhere. Finally they came down to 19000 after every excuse in the book ( "we are losing money""your credit is bad"(I was already approved for financing)"the other dealership is bad"). But they would not beat the trade in. I asked for my keys 3 times to leave but they would not give them to me so they could do their "best". Finally the sales person called me where the manager (bald guy) was in the glass enclosed place and he started giving me every reason why I couldnt get more for my trade (kbb, nada, edmunds dont sell cars). I had printout from 3 appraisal companies kbb, edmunds, nada and all were 7500 for a rough trade in. My truck was not rough. When I started telling the manager that I was not comfortable and my trade in was worth more the person next to him started laughing. I demanded my keys from him and left. He asked me if I wanted my appraisal printouts but kind of in a condesending manner while more of the staff laughed. The whole evxperience was frustrating and unprofessional. They tried there hardest with every stupid car salesman trick/excuse to screw me out of some money. I will never go to this dealership again or recommend to anyone.

A have to agree with most of the reviews I read and wish I had read them before dealing with Planet Ford in Humble. I inquired about a pre-owned vehicle they had advertised online. Was informed the vehicle was available and the monthly payments they advertised were available from several lending sources. I then submitted information for a credit pre-approval to make sure my credit would qualify for this rate before wasting mine or the salesman's time. Was told yes they could do the deal just needed to come in and look at the vehicle and start the contract process. Scheduled an appointment for 5:00 PM and arrived maybe 10 minutes early. The car I wanted to see was blocked in by 2 vehicles that had to be moved and when the salesman went to start the car the battery was dead. Should have run then, but my husband convinced me to drive it, we liked it and got the salesman to agree to let us have it checked out to make sure nothing more serious was wrong before completing purchase but agreed to find out want payments would be. After nearly 20 minutes the salesman came back with a number over 200.00/month more than we had talked about previously. Also while we were waiting for the numbers we could hear the finance manager speaking very loudly about how if we did not like his price we could "stuff it". Very unprofessional dealership and staff and they definately do not mind scamming you so be careful or better yet find another dealership.

A totally impersonal dealership. Recently I was involved in trying to have scratch and dent in one of Planet's loaner vehicles. I was more than willing to accept the responsibility to fix the vehicle but felt no obligation to cover their built in profit marging which their body shop manager told me 38%. Planet refused to use another companies estimate to make the repairs and it took me 4 days to find a party at Planet who would or could talk to me about who owned the probelm in their shop. I visited the dealership on two occassions to settle the issue the second time to see the General Manager who was not available to see me. Eventually I paid the full price of their estimate to fix there vehicle in their shop. I hope they think the profit margin on what amounted to aproximately $700 is enough to cover the loss of my future business. I have in fact purchased new vehicle from Planet will never shop there again and will tell this story at every opportunity.

I will never ever tell anyone to go to this car dealship. There practices are unethical. They tell you one price then you get another. You sign a contact and think that the car is yours and then find out they want even more money down and if you don't bring the car back and you take the car back then there's another game like go ahead keep the car....then call you back again a few days later saying the same thing. I brought the car back and was told that I would get my down payment back & now I can't anyone to speak with me about my money.

My family has had wonderful experiences with Planet Ford's service department.
When I was in a tough spot with my alternator dying on my way home from Galveston to The Woodlands, I took advantage of my free tow from my Warranty. I wanted to bring it to a dealership because I was new in town, so I knew it would cost a lot extra to have it towed there. I was prepared to pay it. Mouthy tow truck men called my phone to tell me I had to be at the dealership in person with cash to pay them for it despite it being credited. Lonnie in the service department covered the costs and never asked for a penny in return. The repair was also free since I was covered under warranty. And, they were prompt.
My family has since purchased a 2008 Ford Focus and a 2009 Ford Escape. Each salesman respected our wishes not to be sold anything other than the car. It was fast and easy each time, taking no more than an hour and a half. We also took advantage of their Internet sales each time.

12/31/2008Requested a price on a Shelby GT500 and the Shelby GT500KR that they have available on their showroom floor, they haven't even sent a reply to this request.
I made $300K last year so can definitely afford either, Randall Reed's Planet Ford's loss, not mine.
Most likely asking an outrageous price for these anyway even though Ford is asking for a Multi Billion $$$$$$$ Government loan that the tax paying potential customer will finance, what a joke!
After all, the tax payer is still getting the shaft by overpaid Union members, but then again this is the Governments way of keeping these employees off the Welfare rolls!
From what I've read and heard they're still running shady business practices as compared to a couple of years ago with their continued bait and switch method of operating that was publicized in the news.
How's the grin now, Randall and Sherry?

This place is horrible! These ppl actually sent a pre-approved e-mail,told me a 2 different vehicles were there then they magically weren't but a pricer car was, wasted my time by going there, test driving the expensive vehicle, decided on it and the boss Spanky, told us he would have an answer by the 3 or 4 th day and he would call us, that was about 3 weeks ago,I have called, left voice mails and even emailed him, he will give you a sob story about how busy they are and his wife, worse car buying experience ever, DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!

Found a mustang online and called to see if the car was still in stock. Told the manager I lived about 2 hours away and to make sure the car was there, she told me it would be ready and we agreed on a price. Drove all the way to the dealer in Humble and when I got there they sat me down and attempted to start a contract. I told them I needed to see and test drive the vehicle first. They then told me they sold the car over the weekend but had a newer, more expensive vehicle available. I told them I called ahead and was told the vehicle was ON the lot! Drove home another 2 hours empty handed. I was taken by the old bait and switch. If this is how they are going to do business I will never buy from any of the Planet Ford dealers ever! I recommend you stay away from them, shady practices and they will play games.

NOT very good neighbors! There was an arson fire that came from two trucks on their side of the fence and it traveled over the fence and destroyed two cars parked on the other side in the appartment complex. Around 5 in the morning everybody was out in their houserobes. Planet Ford claims no responsability for the damages and would not replace the vehicles because their insurence dosn't cover damages outside the property that is involved in arson. Talk about cutting corners. If you think their neighborly attitude is a testament to their customer service, prove me wrong.

Recommended a brake job when it was not needed. I have also had problems with this dealer pricing and horrible service.

Randall Reed's automotive deealerships will CHEAT you. They treat customers very bad and hide charges. For the truth see: http://planetford.yolasite.com/
